Original oil painting on canvas of a cottage in Kerry by the renowned American artist Arthur Radclyffe Dugmore 1870-1955.

This artist also painted some scenes in Donegal.

A.R Dugmore was a commissioned officer in the first world war and was gassed whilst in the trenches of the Somme. He traveled extensively, initially as a photographer and a game hunter, but then decided to capture animals in paint. The painting is around 20 inches by 16, and this work has many parts in impasto , giving a real depth to the work.

The artist held exhibitions at the Elstead Hotel on the Knyveton road in Bournemouth, and this work may have been sold from there. There is no doubt however, that his works were done at the places that he depicted in his paintings.
